The burning is carried out in a rotary kiln as shown in fig. 6-3. A rotary kiln is formed of steel tubes. Its diameter varies from 2.50 m to 3 m. Its length varies from 90 m to 120 m. It is laid at a gradient of about 1 in 25 to 1 in 30. The kiln is supported at intervals by columns of masonry or concrete. The refractory lining is provided on the inside surface of rotary kiln
